Further details: When you turn the corner along the Devonshire lanes and see Buckland House for the first time it will take your breath away. This most magnificent Grade II Star mansion stands proudly in unspoilt rural countryside and offers the most splendid accommodation for families or groups of friends to gather together. A fine time will be had as you explore the expanse of rooms including two storey gallery ballroom, impressive staircase, Tudor sittingroom and library. Many original features remain with Victorian heaters, canopied first floor balcony, decorative fireplaces and pillared porticos.

Remarkably the house has a warm happy atmosphere and at once you will feel relaxed and comfortable in your surroundings. The park encasing the house is a wonderful setting with fine specimen trees. There is a lake with rowing boat, and outdoor pool (25 yards, depth 3 feet to 8 feet).

The village Church which lies within the grounds welcomes welcomes its local parishioners on 1st and 3rd Sundays every month. If you can tear yourself away from Buckland House you will find you are ideally situated for a varied holiday. There are many walks through 250 acres of private woodland, landscaped to give good views of the house and surrounding countryside. An easy drive takes you to the North Cornwall coast with Bude 12 miles, Torrington 9 miles and the historic town of Launceston 23 miles. An excellent base for exploring both Devon and Cornwall. Shop and pub 2 miles.

The front entrance leads into the Hall with spiral staircase. The inner hall leads to the ballroom with a grand piano through to the sittingroom and French windows to the terrace and gardens. There is a huge dining room, snooker room with full size table, a drawing room, second sittingroom, library, breakfast room, kitchen, laundry room, large children's play room with table tennis, darts and small billiard table. There are 2 cloakrooms with toilet and basin on the ground floor.

On the first floor there are 15 bedrooms and 9 bathrooms. 2 bedrooms have double 4 poster beds and another has a single 4 poster bed. Of the rest there are 5 with double beds and 5 with twin singles and 2 with single beds. Many of the bedrooms have coal effect fires and one has a study and another a large nursery with 2 cots. Five of the bedrooms have Victorian ball and claw baths, 2 with normal baths and 2 with showers.
