The Baron de Verpré, an eccentric character and renowned womanizer, had the five towers added to lock up his numerous lady friends when receiving new companions!
Its subsequent owners, the Vyau de Vaudreuil family of Fontenay, who were great lovers of hunting, bred dogs on the adjoining farm for hunting wild boar and roe-deer.
