Lisheen castle was bought by the Everard family in the early 90's. It had been burnt down in 1921 by the old IRA and lay in ruin until 1995 when the Everard family took on the total restoration project which lasted a total of 5 years from 1995-2000. Today the castle is available for luxury weekly rental. Most of our guests are from the states and the resounding feedback is that the castle feels like home to them for the week with all the modern conveniences and they simply wish they didn't have to leave. A Fairy Tale Week

Our party of 15 consisted of 12 adults, 2 teens and 1 3-yr old and we were crowded! The castle is unbelievable and is represented perfectly on the website. The only surprise was how wonderful everything was! From the moment Zane, the owner, greeted us at the door, we felt like we were visiting a very special place with a special new friend. We couldn’t have asked for a better “host with the most”! We really enjoyed the evenings when he stayed for a wee drink and a visit. Zane was very knowledgeable about the area and things to do since he grew up next door to the castle. We really enjoyed touring the roof one afternoon!

The castle itself is amazing! The nine bedrooms are all large and decorated beautifully. All bedrooms had ensuite bathrooms except the School Room, which has a sink and shares a bath with another bedroom.

We spent most of of our time in the Library, Breakfast room and Kitchen, but there were many more rooms to enjoy. As I said, we never felt crowded as we could always find a quiet room!

The location of the castle is perfect! It’s about a 15 minute drive into the town of Thurles where there are many pubs, shops and grocery stores. We ate lunch in town several times and enjoyed the friendly people in the pubs.

We cooked breakfast and dinner at the castle each day. The kitchen had everything needed to prepare food for our small army. We loved starting the day off with a big breakfast, then returning to the castle late afternoon and relaxing in the Library before dinner. We took turns cooking, so no was was “stressed”!

This was truly a relaxing week in a fantastic castle set in a wonderful location. If you’re looking for Quality, then look no won’t be disappointed!

Amazing Experience!

What a beautiful, amazing experience. Sometimes, when you view pictures online, the reality just doesn't live up to it. This was just the opposite - the pictures just don't do justice to how really beautiful the castle is. Zane was incredibly helpful, the castle was gorgeous, we all had a wonderful time. Highly recommended.

Gorgeous Castle, Great Location, Excellent Customer Service

Lisheen Castle was a wonderful home base for our group of 14! The castle is gorgeous but it's also in a great location that provides easy access to many attractions. With nine bedrooms and large living and dining spaces our group of 14 was comfortable and had enough space to spread out so we weren't on top of each other. We were schedule to transfer to Dublin the day Hurricane Ophelia hit but due to the roads being closed were unable to do so. Zane called us as soon as he heard the news and offered us to stay an additional night at no charge. Wow! That's amazing customer service! He also came by to check on us once the danger had passed. I highly recommend Lisheen Castle for your Irish adventure!

Fantastic vacation

Lisheen Castle is not a destination to be missed! Zane was extremely prompt in answering any questions we had before the stay and during. The castle was spotless and the 14 of us were quite comfortable the entire week. It was a wonderful home base to come back to everyday as we toured all of Ireland. Don’t hesitate in staying here!

A Magical Experience

It's not everyday you get to stay in a castle. Our family of 14 had an amazing experience staying at the Lisheen Castle. From the little touches of antiques, paintings, and old photographs to the amazing views of the Ireland countryside and the beautiful Castle grounds. The central location was great with the town of Thurles a short drive away and many other main attractions of Ireland within manageable distances. We had our own personal driver in the wonderful Tom, who did a terrific job managing the narrow windy roads and getting us place to place safely! Tom and Mary were even kind enough to make the two hour drive to the Shannon Airport twice when we had late arrivals and early departures in our group. A family favorite of the trip were the meals provided by Ursula, Anne Marie, and Michelle...not only were they delicious, but they provided us with lots of laughter each morning to start our day off on a great start.

Zane not only assured that everything was perfect upon arrival, he continuously throughout our stay made sure that everything was perfect and ensured that we wanted for nothing. The first night in the castle we were without wifi (God forbid!!) and we informed Zane, the next day someone was at the castle fixing the problem and we had no more problems the rest of the stay. His quickness and attentiveness to the fix the problem was greatly appreciated, especially with the internet obsessed young members of our family. :) Our family would recommend the Lisheen Castle to anyone who asks. We all hope to go back someday in the future!

A beautiful place to stay!

Lisheen is a beautiful castle, full of history, lovingly restored, and very warm and comfortable. We stayed on a self-catering basis. The industrial kitchen is well-equipped for this, as are the dining room and living areas. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay!

Didn't really know what to expect. The castle was beautiful and warm! (That's what everyone wants to know, was it cold?) Great to be near a small-ish town and in close proximity to many cool sites. Nice to have the whole family together to spend time in the informal dining room off the kitchen or the library near the fire after the day's outings. Hope we'll be back! :)

Best in Ireland

Where do I start? Everything from the luxurious rooms to the unbelievable custom cooked and served meals in the formal dining room, this trip was SPECIAL. The Everard family has made Ireland proud with this castle. The grounds and castle are magical and the location is the best in the land. We were able to go to all the wonderful sights from north to south and east to west because of the central location. I literally could write a book about all of the fantastic things this place holds. If you come to Ireland you really need to stay here. Thanks again Zane for such an incredible holiday.
