Birkhill Castle
Listing Description
Located in the Kingdom of Fife, overlooking the Firth of Tay, Birkhill castle is the ancestral home of the Earls of Dundee, the Royal Standard Bearers of Scotland. Although the family have all now moved out, the history of the castle remains firmly in place.
The castle is set within 1,500 acres of stunning farm and woodland. Secluded paths meander from the tennis court, walled garden, and outdoor heated swimming pool down to the private beach on the shores of the river Tay estuary. Why not enjoy a barbecue on the beach as the sun goes down over the hills?
With towering ancient trees, red squirrels, otters, seals and even the occasional giant sea-eagle soaring overhead, every walk and every day at Birkhill offers something new and different.
Close to a variety of historic locations, including the city of Dundee, St Andrews and its’ golf courses, Edinburgh, Stirling, and the Scottish Highlands, Birkhill is a wonderful centre from which to explore Scotland.
Birkhill is friendly, welcoming and warm with heated rooms throughout.
The castle has 10 double bedrooms, 2 singles and a nursery bedroom for up to 6 children. Most bedrooms come with their own private bathroom and widespread views of the Fife-shire countryside and the river Tay estuary.
Birkhill is perfect for holidays, intimate weddings, corporate and special events.
